I don't make fun of people who work at McDonald's. I think it would be an ok job.

I've just read half the responses and was getting angry at what everyone was saying.
I worked at Macca's (in Australia) for three years and loved it. I also can't understand why people make fun of fast food workers, it's a lot harder than it looks. It can be a very stressful job, and one you have to be on your toes for every single minute. The training Macca's provides is second to none. When you start you are amazed at what you are actually required to do and think that it will be impossible forever. Working at Macca's teaches you many skills you will carry on for life, including team work, handling responsibilities, money handling, customer service and many more. You have to put up with rude, obnoxious, stupid customers who treat you like crap and expect you to treat them like kings in return (the customer's always right!). Working out the back making the burgers is also a lot harder than it would seem. Firstly, no one ever flips burgers at Maccas, the patties are cooked on a grill with a pull down teflon cover that cooks the patties in 3 minutes. There is a procedure to everything at Macca's and following these makes the store run smoothly.
Sure, there are a lot of young kids that work there that seem brain dead and pretty thick. These are probably new kids still being trained and a bit slow, or they are kids that have been there a while and are disillusioned with how poorly they are treated by customers.
Also, in Australia the registers do not have pictures of food on them (at least they didn't when I was still there in 2004).
I wish you all the best with your job if you get it, and welcome to the stressful world of employment!!

I think people make fun of Fast Food workers because honestly its not something you have to think alot about. Working the register and giving change isn't even complicated anymore. Some places actually tell you what to give a persone back ie. 2 $.05 1 $.01 etc. Putting fries in a fryer and "pressing" the hamburgers isn't mentally challenging. BUT.....I believe if someone is actually applying and working then good on them. Atleast you are making money and being responsible. Personally I think these jobs are good for High School kids, gives them gas money and a sense of how to get along with co-workers, show up to work on time and possibly managing people.

Okay I have never worked there and I won't ever but thats because I am trying to lose weight and working there wouldn't help. Other then that I dont understand why people do that either. I caught my friend saying something about it but when it came down to it...the kid working at McDonalds was making 3 dollars more then the kid making fun of him...its a job...who cares what you do.

Basically anyone over the age of say 21 should be doing something better with their lives. It's an awesome job for young people or people on the twilight of retirement. It's not a job for eveyone. It's also good for aspiring managers, but joe public doesn't know if you want to evetually own the place or if you just can't get a better job living out of your mom's basement with your liberal arts degree from U of O.

there is no reason to make fun of anyone doing any job as long as it legal and pays. some people think they are better than others so they feel compelled to elevate their ego by picking on someone they think is beneath them.
i worked in fast food as teen and was harassed by others my age. but that was OK, because the ones making fun of me didn't OWN their car as i did, they borrowed mom and dad's.
you are no loser. a job is a job. don't be ashamed to work anywhere.if it is the best you can do, who cares. just show up clean and ready to work with a good attitude.

Good luck!!

McDonald's workers are by and large lazy, fat, unpleasant, and really stupid. I'm not "fooling or making fun" - I am simply stating the facts. The only fast food stores worth visiting are those with local ownership and multiple adults on staff at all times. People that actually need the job to pay bills for their families are much more pleasant and attentive than teenagers wanting to earn money to buy gas and beer. If you want to consider going to work at one of these stores, look for a locally owned one with a significant adult presence in the store and you will be respected by your customers and your peers.

What I find funny is that people always knock down a fast food employee for being dumb, a loser, a low life, etc, etc. But, let that fast food employee make 1 mistake with their order, and all hell breaks loose!!! People expect perfection out of a dumb, loser, low life???

Maybe because they want their food messed with. Maybe because they are insecure. The world needs ditch diggers as well & maybe they are just too mean to realize that.
