Ok so I'm 11 week 5 days pregnant. I have had some morning sickness but not too bad (at least not as bad as with my son.) I have lost 9 and a half pounds so far and I'm not trying. I am eating (I just can't eat alot of meats.) I'm able to eat high carb foods and fruits and veggies. I was sicker with my son, ate less and didn't loss this much weight. I've had a few protein shakes but still can't seem to gain any weight. I know some weight loss is normal during the first trimester, I was just wondering how much is too much? When should I start to worry, or should I even worry until the second trimester?

How much is too much kinda depends on where you started out at. If you were small to begin with, 10 pounds might be enough for your dr to want to put you on some sort of medications or something. But if you were a little on the heavy side, you might be able to lose 20 or more pounds without any issues at all.

I am about average, I guess, started my pregnancy at about 130-135 lbs (at 5' 7"), and lost 15 through the first 4 months. Then over the next month and a half, gained and lost nothing. My dr. said if I didn't start gaining by my next appt, she was going to check me into the hospital until I did (but she may have been bluffing, I'll never know!).

By my next appt, I had gained a couple pounds, and gained steadily until the last month when I gained about 15. It took me until the day my son was born (10 days overdue) to gain the weight she said I should, and was 150-something when I checked into the hospital.

Good rule of thumb is don't worry if your doctor isn't. Doubtless, you will discover your pant's don't fit anymore before too much longer. You're not even three months yet, so there's plenty of time. I didn't buy my first maternity clothes until I was 6 months along, and some people don't have to wear them at all.

Good luck and congratulations!

Well I have lost about the same amount of weight im 23 weeks but my doctors says all is fine sometimes your previous weight plays a big role in it but my youngest sister was small framed and lost around 10 lbs during her second pregnancy and had a very healthy little girl her doctor never showed any concern about the weight loss but if your that worried hun talk to your doctor but if he/she hasnt mentioned anything to you about it then I dont think they ae seeing it as a problem...Congrats and Good Luck

I am working on my second pregnancy as well but as with any questions you are unsure of especially if you are pregnant. ALWAYS ask your OB/GYN. Only they will know if 9.5 pounds is too much and will have a negative effect on the baby. At this stage in your pregnancy, you need nutrients. I would call for any kind of question even if you think its a dumb question like too much milk in one day.....for example.

This is possibly diabetes caused by the body attempting to attack the baby because it is aware something is not right and possibly diverts to the pancreas which stops producing insulin and this is a sign of it. Ask your doctor about it and see what happens

it depends how much you weigh to begin with, when i got pregnant with my son i was already very overweight and the doctor said it was perfectly safe for me to lose weight but just to make sure i wasnt depriving myself and the baby, so i would see what the doctor says, i mean if you are already very small i dont think its good to be losing weight and i would definitely see your doctor, good luck.
