Hands down - the Korean movie to watch is Oldboy. I guess you would call it a psychological thriller...just to warn - it is twisted and pretty violent, but also thoughtful and intelligent. The director Chan Wook Park has made this part of a trilogy, so if you really like Oldboy, you should also see Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (a little stranger, not quite as good) and Lady Vengeance (the newest one - excellent). Some other notables are Attack the Gas Station! (a goofy dark comedy about street punks literally taking over a gas station); A Tale of Two Sisters is a good, creepy ghost story; Samaritan Girl is a more thought provoking story of a young girl turned prostitute; Sorum is creepy asian horror. All highly recommended. Unfortunately, I haven't seen many Korean films that fit the standard comedy or drama genres - it seems the horror and thriller categories are more sellable on the international market. There is one more black comedy - The Quiet Family is a really fun time. Hope this helps! Happy watching (mwahahaa!)
