there is a bad place in corner by shower from water. would i have to do a major repair or a quick fix?

Chances are, you're gonna have to put in a new piece of flooring and then tile over it. To do the job right, pull off the molding and work back to the good wood.

Sucks but that is the problem with water damage.

Also, I believe that they sell screens for showers that can block those little areas where water gets out.

TIP: When you are done and the grout is dry, use a paintbrush and a SEALER to seal the grout.

You could do it but you would need to take a few more steps:
1 - treat the effected area for mold and let dry completely (at least 48-72 hours - or rent a floor dryer and let set 12 hours)
2 - scree a layer of self leveling concrete over the floor and let dry (see set time on bag)
3 - lay tile

This will hold the major repair off for several years providing you don't have severe dry rot. Good Luck!

the quick answer mis no.youwill need to either take up the old tiles or pt at least 1/4inch subloor over the old tiles.
