every time my wife uses microsoft word and trys to download something from the net or open a file,it opens my private folders.no matter how hard i try to hide them.im trying to keep her bday present ideas a secret.so my question is why does word do this and how can i have folders only i can open????

Save your MS-Word documents with a password. Do a "save as" and then go into "Tools" at the top, and then click on "Security Options...". Here is where you have the option of saving the file with a password. Just remember the password, or you won't ever be able to open it.

Open the file you don't want your wife to see.
Go to Tools. Select Options.
Select the Security tab.
Assign a Read password and a Write password. This way, only you will be able to open the file containing your sensitive (present) information.

Yes, you can change the default place where word saves your documents.
Tools > Options > File Locations > Documents > Modify

Hi,
Right click on the folder and go for permissions then set up so only you have access to them. Hope this helps.

right click file or folder, go to properties, select security tab and set rights.
