at my last doctors appt my uterus measured 5 weeks larger than normal. This is the first time it has happened and up untill now i'd been measuring normally. I'm sure i'm not having twins (2sonograms). Could I just have a lot of amniotic fluids???

Depends on how far along you are. My uterus measures small externally but in ultrasound the baby was measuring *average* 37 weeks at 34.5 weeks gestation. I did however have low amniotic fluids at that time, but now my fluids are back up but I still haven't gotten any bigger. Everybody just develops differently, if your doc isn't concerned then neither should you be :)

You could be carrying a lot of water. I did. Some women when their water broke it wasn't much, mine was niagra falls. Dr. told me I was carrying a lot of water "behind" the baby as well. I'm sure you're fine. I only heard of 2 incidences where someone (including Dr) didn't know they had twins (they were on top of each other and registered one heartbeat) that has been 30 years ago. I'm sure you're fine and as long as the baby's fine that is what counts. Perhaps you're farther along than expected.

2 things could have happened. One, the doc may have made a simple mistke. Try measuring yourself. Docs do make mistakes something. Another thing, the measuring thing isn't accurate till a certian point in your pregnancy. If you are not at that point, the measurement may not be accurate. If you are at that point, the due date may be off or you could be pregnant with 2. Just because "you're sure" you're not pregnant with twins, doesn't mean you're not. One could have been hiding this whole time!

i wouldn't worry about it to much, when i was 20 weeks i was measuring really large too... I'm currently 38 1/2 weeks and i measure normal now and have been for the last 12 weeks now.

I did the same and had a normal sized baby. It was the third child and I figure the uterus was just stretchier. The baby could just be in an odd position.
