I have. It's hard but you have to sometimes to insure the smooth functioning of the workplace. I would say something like, "You're a great worker but I think you're in the wrong job." Then I'd distract them by talking about what kind of other jobs they would like and felt more suited to do. You have to care about people's feelings when letting them go unless they stole something.

tell that person that burger king is hiring at double the hourly pay of said stupid person, and they can pick their own hours. inform him you must have a written resignation, but you will release him as soon as that's done.
that type will fall for the ruse. just be sure you don't allow them back on the property for the next several months.
