Like, Macy's. How much did each dress, shirt, or whatever cost them? I'm looking for the range of the kind of thing you'd find at a Macy's store, specifically, though any range or a place I could find this information would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

What I'm really looking for is this: in a promotion plan, Macy's is using samples of it's clothing in a fashion show. How much do each of these samples cost Macy's? (I realize this would probably never happen, but this is part of an assignment and I would really like to know.)

A lot less than the sticker price.
Even at half-off sale price, they are still making a profit.
I heard a report several years ago that some stores own everything from the fabric mills to the store, but it is set up to lokk like they don't.
The actual total cost is about 1/3 of the markup, the rest is for advertising and other costs. 1/2 is profit.

All stores have a minimum of at least a 50% mark up.... even when things are on sale. You do better at an outlet center, but they have mark ups, too. It's a never ending cycle.
