Ideally, how many true friends should a person have in order to be happy? What are the types of friends that one should have?
For example, I would say that outside my family, I could call 4 people my true friends (for reference, they are A, B, C, and D).
A is best for serious discussions about the world, and for a new perspective on many issues. We can (and do) have mindless fun also. For emotional situations, she may not agree with me, but she is a good listener.
B is automatically supportive if something is wrong, and she usually has a good solution. She likes my sense of humor the most.
C is so upbeat that I almost forget my emotions with him. If I am stressed, I always look for him. He is a practical mentor, who helps me make decisions about school.
D, like A, can have discussions, but still have fun doing nothing. Like B, he is emotionally supportive. Like C, he is always upbeat. I have not known him long, but he is the most likely to defend me.
