It's a truly great question!!

Indeed, I believe that excess communication is more harmful than useful. It is useful in terms of gathering information and opinions.... but that in the raw form is not what we can use well enough. We need to churn these information etc. in our own mind and relate them to other information already within our mind and it is then that we can convert the raw information into knowledge. Excess of communication does not allow us enough time with ourselves to convert information gathered into usable knowledge. More importantly, at a philosophical level, excess communication makes us skewed towards the externals and our attention and efforts towards the internals suffer as a result.... in simple terms, I would say we collect a lot of data but lack the insight to use them well enough.

Whether the level of communication has crossed that threshold to be more harmful than useful.... is a matter of individual opinion and orientation... I personally believe that it has crossed the threshold and begun to harm us.

You made a good point and the answer would have to come from experience. not being able to be reached or to reach out is the night we all dread, the distress call being used up like the person calling wolf all the time. and by then the path has been well worn out and no one comes . knowing that someone still can care enough to come even when the welcome matt has been worn out in proving there is love in the world.is a miracle.

It takes away so much of the mystery of waiting for the mail to see if your true love loves you. It makes contact so casual as to take the romance out of it. Waiting, anticipating, and appreciating another persons contact is wonderful (or awful), but it is still exciting.
