We have an adequite government in Canada. I don't think any government will be good in Canada until they learn to ignore the media and the polls, and to focus on what they think are priotities. Canadian governments on a whole seem to be very fickle and change their positions daily. The Harper Conservatives do not have that bad reputation yet, unlike the Liberals, as they did stick to their guns (and made some shrewd political moves like the simple vote on gay marriage that they promised and knew wouldn't pass) on most of their platform. Let's hope that the whole Kyoto mess does not distract this government from governing, and admit that Canada missed the ball when something needed to be done and move on (and yes, I do blame the inept Liberals for dropping the ball, and they deserve the full blame). Let's wait and see the tax cuts, as unlike what many people think, the overall level of taxation in Canada (not just income...ALL TAXES (GST, municipal, provincial, PST....the list is endless) is close to 50% and needs to shrink in all areas.

I believe so far the Harper government is doing fine though, I do not agree with it's foreign policies and the way It started to handle some matters in the wake of anti-terrorism. We have a good health care system which will improve to be the best level...at least I hope so. Harper's government's handling of Ontario province after the elections is a bit disappointment. It seems like the Ontarians are being punished. I personally believe and hope that Harper's party will not win the next election.

Like any government the government of Canada could stand to improve.

I like the system of government with several parties to choose from and no directly elected leader, rather the leader of the party with the most seats in the house of common is the leader of that nation. That provides for a more accurate representation of the people.

With regards to policy, Canada has some great policies with regards to freedom of information, thus being records from any public proceeding as well as government expenditures are public record and can be accessed.

Our current administration seems to be a work in progress. After one year we have yet to see any tangible progress with regards to many key issues to the Canadian public. Those being accountability, military involvement in Afghanistan, Environment, and Provincial equalization initiatives.

By comparison to many other governments we do have a good system, we have a variety of voices in the house of commons representing every facet of Canadian society. Although this may slow down the legislative process by way of amendments to bill before they can be passed, there is greater input to what Canadians as a whole want.

(taxation is nowhere near 50% for the majority of canadians, on ly the incredibly wealthy are paying at that level.)

I don't know all that much about your government. I have a friend from Canada and she said that the government takes 50% of what each person makes. I would say that isn't good.

Canada is in a tough spot next to the United States as far as it's own government goes.
It has a good one but not a great one.
Canada needs to promote it's own industries better.

I dont know much about Canada, but seeing as they have a lower crime rate medical care for all of there citizens and are not shipping off there troops for no reason at all I would say Canada has a good government.

Yes on the whole, except for the religious war we are fighting that none of our business and costing tax payers millions of dollars every year it goes on. Its the same thing going on with the states in Iraq and the people are sick of it. People here are like sheep, if the gov. said walk over the cliff because its good for the country, they would start walking and not ask why. Well if people want to die for somebody Else's country that their business, just don't ask me to pay for their funeral or the cost of their war effort.

It'll be better when Dion's Liberals get in, but in the meanwhile, at least it's not as bad as the Bush Admin. And Harper is one smart cookie... I'll give him that.

Edit:

Most Canadians pay between 17% and 28% in income tax, which allows for universal health-care as one of many social programs. The only one's paying 50% are the very wealthy.

Yes.

Our government is not perfect, but there's no such thing as a perfect government.

Our government is certainly better than the American government.
