Because it's all manufactured pop!
Bring back the strivers (not a band, the people who work hard!) These people start from the bottom, playing in bars etc. They write their own music and hence have a true passion for the music, not the fame. When these guys make it famous, they appreciate they are only there because of the fans and therefore are humble in front of them (They don't become divas etc).
When you see them live, you realise that they care about the music and the passion behind it, not the fact that they are famous!
Manufactured pop has sapped this passion from the music industry. The popstars who follow this route only care about the fame. They get others to write the music for them and they simply learn the words. Because of this, they put no passion into singing it. They simply want to be recognised on the street as opposed to putting their message across.
Kill off manufactured pop before it's too late!

I don't think it's a case of not being bothered, more of a case of advances in affordable computer-based music technology meaning that any old idiot can sit in their room and create a multi-instrumental peice.
But just because music is written on a computer doesn't automatically make it rubbish -if it is rubbish, it's solely as a result of the composer being rubbish not the technology!! You can't blame the tools -quality artists can make quality music in this way -noone can objectively argue that music made by the likes of the Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers or Basement Jaxx "doesn't work" or is unequal to purely live instrumental-based music.
But yes, there is a whole lot of crap out there.

Its probably annoying because you are listening to the wrong stuff. There's plenty of good stuff around with real people and real instruments. What are you listening to? If you are in the UK then you shuld try the Fratellis, The Automatic, Snow Patrol. BLoc Party. Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly, Manic Street Preachers, Placebo, and loads more. Rufus Wainwright, Guillemots etc. I could go on and on and on.

What???
Are you in the UK? the chart is dominated by bands playing real instruments!
5 years ago when the top 40 was predicted by 13 year old girls, yeah i would agree. With downloads counting towards the chart, the diversity of music has greatly improved.

JMO bands are trying to get stuff out too fast, gotta make the bucks before they aren't wanted anymore. You gotta go back to the classic rock songs and bands: Sabbath, Zepplin, ELO, Bad Company. Beatles....now those are just a few, but that is gonna get you the good music.
I give you alot of credit for noticing and caring!

Wowee, you are so right. Any clown can copy other peolpe's ideas which is what the majority of music today is - other people's stuff ripped off and overlayed with a moronic 'thud thud' bass drum beat. I bet you are an old fogie like me, but it would be nice if you wern't!

Music nowadays suck because everyone is in it for money or fame. no one seems to care about expressing insightful ideas or revolutionizing society like past music did. Musicians have gotten lazy and apathetic to emotions. However some musicians today are extremely good they are just not played on the radio, most of them are underground, indie, or unappreciated, all you have to do is find them.

Music is annoying for you at the moment because you refuse to get off your lazy *** and look for good music you'll like. So turn off the radio and quit your bitching.

You are obviously misinformed in music. Go and buy some music rags like NME, Uncut, Mojo. That kind of thing...Youll be pleasently suprised!
