I am trying to settle a dispute at work...

Do you or do you not agree that, especially in such times, it is essential that when considering a partner, that:

1) you do a personal, criminal, employment background check,

2) you perform a credit check,

3) you go to the clinic to be tested for STDs/HIV?

**Co-workers/acquaintances believe that it's meddling in people's private lives and that it's immoral/unethical.

***I believe that it's significant for a relationship to build or dismantle, to cancel out any questions--any unknowns.
I believe that one should be entitled/have the right to do a background check on one's partner if they are looking to involve themselves and open up their private lives with another.
I don't believe enough people are doing this to keep safe.

***What do you think?

Serious input, please, and personal experiences are most welcome. All silliness is encouraged to press the ENTER button and move on.

Thx.

So much for trust in a relationship. I don't think I'd be asking you for a date if I was in the market for a relationship. If you can't be honest with your partner or they with you then there is no basis for a relationship or marriage. Does one actually have to fill out forms and releases before they can have a date these days? How sad. :o(

Add a psych exam to that as well! I've dated some real winners in my time. However for the STD tests wouldn't you already know that? Same with a credit check and a criminal check? Also it kinda brings a drag on the whole dating thing too. It would be like this: " before I use this old and crusty line I know on you, I need you to clear this simple back round check as well as this credit and std checks as well!" Its a good idea to cover yourself but it is mildly impractical.

Well, so much for basing the relationship on trust. I agree with the Aids/Std testing. No room for messing around there.

I'll tell you honestly, you can have all of that done, turn up clean on everything, and still be married to the biggest rat bastard on earth.

Good luck.

Now a days you have to be more careful, but you cannot expect anyone to go along with this. I guess the "trust" issue is just thrown out the window, huh??? Yea, its hard and times have changed and everyone would like to have a piece of mind, but in the dating game, you have to be aware of everything and ask questions and do your homework. But you have to build a foundation first, and without trust, its like having water without the cement. Good Luck to everyone, looking for mates,,,,,,,

The first 2 are good to do be for marriage. The last one you should do be for you have any intercourse.

Unless this a qustion on work partners like Police, FBI/CIA Agents. Then no that is wrong.
