I lost all my mp3 files in my computer. It took me years to have over 1000 mp3 in my file and now I lost it all. I forgot what songs i have in there and i dont want to spend several years to download all the songs again to my computer. Is there a way i can just go to a buddies house and get his mp3 songs from him? Like if i can just go and copied his files into my computer?

have your friend burn all of his music to CD's (burn them as data files, they hold tons more than an audio CD) then just add them to your computer. As long as you and your friend aren't burning and selling CD's there really is no copyright issue here. It's just like purchasing a song from itunes and then burning it to a CD as long as you are using it for your own personal use, no harm no foul.

It is not really legal to do that. But yes, it can be done, it is easy on Ubuntu Linux. It gets legal messy with WMD,Apple, or any DRM activated software.
