Back to the Future: Parts of this movie were filmed on location, however the town of Hill Valley is all situated at Universal Studios in Los Angeles. Taking part in the Universal Studios backlot tour will take you around Hill Valley.

i know for sure the downtown set is the downtown of Universal Studios.

In 1994-1995 they were considering making a part 4 when some crazzy old guy sets fire to the entire downtown set.

By the time they rebuilt it, plans for the sequel were scratched.
