The majority of the scientists say the smallest organism is viruses but they are non living when they are outside the cell but they do replicate and become living cell when they enter into the cell. they do have the genetic material.

Nanobes are known to be the smallest organism as they are smaller than the known small bacteria.They are filaments in structure attached to the rocks and stones.They are 20nm long.

Mycoplasma genetalium is known to be the smallest microorganism where they are present in the genetalia.
