First of all, Viagra really isn't necessarily his problem, although you should tell him that it WILL definitely give him an A-1 erection; one he could tenderize a tough steak with. I'm not kidding.
But, if he has some kind of self-image problem with trying Viagra, well......
Is premature ejaculation his problem? That's something you could both work on together. He needs to pay attention to his body and learn to control its reactions just prior to ejaculation.
Maybe he's going soft early because he has some "performance anxiety." That's very common in men of all ages.
Ask him if he masturbates. If you don't know, just ASK him. Because if he's capable of maintaining his erection when HE strokes it, then there's nothing wrong with him physically.

Ok. There could be several things going on here with his erection and then sudden limpness. It could be mental or physical. First thing you need to do is have a discussion about this issue with him. He may not want to at first or he may feel embarassed, but it is necessary. Does he watch or look at porn? If he does, that can definitely cause a disconnect to the real world of sex. If you suspect he is lieing about it, then he probably is. Your conscious needs to be cleared before you can get to the possible physical issues of this. If a physical problem is suspected, then he needs to seek help for it. What is his physical status? Is he out of shape? Does he have stamina? Endurance? These things can effect the longevity of his erections. Poor blood flow can be the result of a poor diet and lack of exercise. Hit the mental first and then the physical.
Good luck.

He doesn't want to take Viagra because he may relate the use of it to old men who cannot maintain an erection and this would be a stab to his ego being 22.
I suggest he visit his doctor to rule out any serious problems such as diabetes which can hinder sexual functions or even performance anxiety.

yeah many things can contribute to this... Something that can work wonders is called blood flow constriction ring - it prevents the outflow of the blood. Can be purchased in novelty gag gifts stores... In his case it is perfect - once he is ready he should put it on and thats it! It is not recommended to wear it for more than 30 min... Also tell him to take some powerful vitamins like megamen - after a few weeks you'll see the difference!

Depending on his age, it could be a change in hormaone levels. Viagra may be a good temporary option for him until he gets back on track

Is he on antidepressants or medication for bi-polar disorder or ADD/ADHD? These will cause a problem with sexual functions.
