Your answer is incorrect.

First: combine "like" terms...

7x + 3x - 5 = 6 - 10 + x

10x - 5 = - 4 + x

Sec: add "5" to both sides (when you move a term to the opposite side, always use the opposite sign)...

10x - 5 + 5 = - 4 + x + 5

10x = x + 1

*Subtract "10" from both sides...

10x - x = x - x + 1

9x = 1

Third: isolate "x" on one side > divide both terms by "9"...

9x/9 = 1/9

x = 1/9

No. The solution for that is 1/9. here is how to do it: 7x-5+3x=6+x-10 (7x+3x)-5=(6-10)+x 10x-5=x-4 (10x-x)=(-4+5) 9x=1 x=1/9
anytime that you want to know if a certain number is a solution and you don't know how to do it, just replace the x for the number and do the math. if one side is equal to the other than that number is a solution in this case would be 7(-4)-5+3(-4)=6+(-4)-10 -28-5-12=6-4-10 -45=8 so it's not a solution!!!

No ----- what you should do is convey each and every of the numbers with X to at least one area, and numbers without X to the different. We attempt this by technique of subtracting X from the experience area and including it to the left, you get 7x-5+3x-x=6-10. Then we want to flow the 5 from the left area to the right area. We attempt this by technique of including it to both area. you receives: 7x+3x-x=6-10+5 Then we upload each and every of the X's on the left area and each and every of the numbers on the right, you receives: 9x=a million. To get the cost of X, you in user-friendly words divide by technique of 9 and also you get: x=a million/9

This sounds like a homework question but here is the answer. What you want to do is isolate your variables on one side of the equation so subtract x from the right side and do the same to the left. Then add 5 to the left side and do the same on the right. This gives you.

7x+3x-x=6+5-10

9x=1

Divide by 9

x = 1/9

7x - 5 + 3x = 6 + x - 10

10x -5 = x - 4
9x = 1
x = (1/9)

You are right, -4 is not the solution. :)

10x - 5 = - 4 + x

10x - 5 - x = -4 + x - x

9x - 5 = - 4

9x - 5+ 5 = - 4 +5

9x = 1

9x/9 = 1/9

x = 1/9

x = 1/9

The answer is x = 1/9
