Mind you, this is off the top of my head:

Genocide:

*killing masses for a specific purpose such as hair color, eye color, religion, skin color, ethnic background

*done by one or more ppl

Serial murder:

*killing one (or two or more) at a time

*can be random purposes, can display similar scenarios such as the corpse of the victim can be positioned in the same way as the other victims, they can share like/similar facial features, etc, etc.

***Note that this is off the top of my head and was not researched.

Seems as though it is for some sort of school project.

Good luck with this.

A Serial Killer is someone who kills multiple people with the same M.O., and not at the same time. They can be a few hours apart, days, or even months. Most victims of a Serial Killer have similar things in common (i.e., most of Ted Bundy's victims were females with long, straight, brown hair parted in the middle). Serial Killers are predominately white males in their mid- 20's and up, but there are a few exceptions. Most are psychopaths that were brought up in dysfunctional backgrounds, but then again, there are always exceptions.

Genocide is basically a mass killing of a group of people. (I.e. the Holocaust,). Also "any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group, as such:"

(a) Killing members of the group;
(b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
(c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
(d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
(e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.

both involve the murder of multiple individuals, but genocide is defined as "the mass execution of a group of people of a common background." it is usually carried out by a government, or the ruling body of an area."

serial murder, is usually a single person, with their own motives, that hunts out and kills multiple people, usually with something in common.
