It's not the flowers, it's the thought that does it.
Flowers are not a "get out of the dog-house free" card, but they do remind a woman that you CAN be thoughtful and THAT is what soothes the anger.

Doesn't work on me, especially not for the big things and not if some other gesture to improve the situation is offered. The guy can't give flowers and keep being a jerk.

Flowers don't work for me. Actually owning up to whatever is wrong and applogizing is what works. Flowers die within a few days and are forgotten. Apologies are not so fast to be forgotten.

Because women love flowers and when they get them it makes them feel loved and special... Flowers are very relaxing and beautiful to look at.

If it was something small to be angry about, then flowers could work, but if it's something big, flowers wont do the trick.
