I bought a netgear router which works fine with my cellphone's wifi, and it shows up as connected to my laptop but I still can't get the internet on my laptop. I have already called netgear and the isp and they don't know how to help. How do I get whatever code I have to put in and where am I supposed to put it?

Most Toshiba laptops come with a tool called Config Free. You can run this and it will diagnose your network and identify problem points.

Only one program can regulate your wireless connections. If you have already been using one prog to connect. it is not configured with your new router. Re run your Toshiba lan to search for signals, try to click on the netgear. or let windows control the settings. once you have gotten the signal.. find and enter the key code. and it should save the settings. I have several locations I connect with... so I have diffrent names for the diffrent places... and select the one I want when I need it.

Gee Doris, did you have fun reading the router instructions? That should be your first step, then your second step is to call netgear technical support and get it from the horse's mouth. They have the answers and probably some shortcuts unknown to the rest of us.

Good Luck
