hi! i am 25 weeks pregnant. this pregnancy has been an emotional one. my last pregancy was not planned and was TRYING to be avoided...i love my daughter and am glad we had her even if she wasn't planned. but THIS pregnancy WAS planned. i really wanted this to happen so bad. when i found out i was pregnant i was elated! it was confirmed by a doctor and i was waiting to get into an OBGYN. but at 6 weeks i started having some painful cramping...not normal for what i experience (this will be our 3rd child) so i was sent in for an ultrasound to make sure everything was okay. they couldn't tell what the cramping was but they said that at this point there was no baby....there was an egg and yolk sac but no fetal pole which should have been there by that time. i was devastated! it appeared that the egg wasn't developing. but they had me back in a few weeks later and everything was normal. they saw the fetal pole and was even able to detect a heartbeat....and my dates were accurate from conception where as they didn;t appear to be so before! so alot can happen in a short time! i hope yours will turn out to be as happy as a result as mine! good luck and i hope for the best for you and your husband!

A vaginal ultrasound can see the baby as early as 5 weeks or possibly earlier, so unless they were just scanning your belly and your bladder was empty, they should have seen something. I agree, your hcg levels should be elevated, but if you terminated your levels would still be up there, but would be decreasing each day.

Yes, I have been through this, after several years of trying (with the help of fertility specialists) I conceived, only to find out that sometime between the 6-7 week the heart stopped beating. A yolk sac could be seen by vaginal u/s but no heart beat. I did not start bleeding- I would have never known anything was wrong. It just happened that with fertility they monitor you so closely that I was having u/s every week. I too, opted to have the D&C.

I do hope that they were attempting to view the baby from your belly, as it would make sense if nothing could be observed. My heart goes out to you- I have been there and still to this day cannot imagine a worse feeling in the world.

What ended up helping me on my successful pregnancy, one year later, was progesterone supplements, apparently I was not producing enough in my previous pregnancies to sustain the pregnancy.

Good Luck and hope everything turns out OK.

first of all did they do a vaginal ultrasound? this is the only way they can see the sac, reg. ultrasound will not show anything, plus they need to make sure you do not have an ectopic pregnancy (tubal) I was 5 weeks and they could only see it vaginally, I wish you luck, I know how you feel it took me almost 20 years to get pregnant. Good Luck! for my own personal satisfaction I would take another pregnancy test.

plenty plenty plenty of water theres a gap of two weeks so plenty of growth time and the water will give a clearer picture.the doctor told me i wasnt pregnant but two weeks later confirmed i was and the baby was just too small to see first time so dont worry it doesnt always turn out as it did in the past for you keep an open mind

my sister did. they redid the ultrasound 3 weeks later and found the baby, she was to early to see it the first time. don't rush into a d&c, wait, it won't hurt you to wait if there isn't a baby there. the risk of infection is .1%, so miniscule its almost non existant. try not to stress and think good thoughts.
