Make sure not to turn it on!!!
Bring it to an electronics repair place and ask if they can take it apart and wash it with isopropyl alcohol. This should remove any water that is still in there and clean any residue the water may have left.
Then, if you're lucky, the MP3 player may work again as new.
But it might not, and the cost of this repair might be more than half of the value of the MP3 player itself... so you should give it some thought before committing to trying to get the MP3 player repaired.

First take out the batteries if possible and try to stop any electrical contact, then take it apart as much as you can with out damaging it and then try to dry it out by putting near a radiator, let it dry out for a week or so, until you re pretty sure there is no water left, then try it, it is more luck than any thing but electronic components do not like water.

No one even Sony can help you. Read the owner manual. It says in there about dropping their MP3 in water. Warranty is void.
Same goes for cell phone too, BTW. They have a senser in there that changes color to tell them that it had water in it.
You can't do much with it. Just buy a new one.

Do NOT switch it on. Take out the battery if it's removeable. Dry the exterior, shaking out as much water as possible and place the unit in a warm place such as the drying cupboard. Let it dry out completely - 2 to 3 days - longer if possible. Replace battery and try it. If it works, you're in luck.

You cannot save it, but before you toss it, if you like it, keep it as a reference to buying another one. Bring it with you to buy the new one to compare sizes, shape, and features.
