It does. Children learn from what they see. Further, when they see something on TV and they hear the laugh track, it's reinforced that not only is this behavior acceptable, it's desired.
The argument, of course, is that it can help children act out their anger vicariously. The problem with this argument is that everyone gets angry and teaching kids how to respond properly to their anger is a much better idea than teaching them (via television) that when you're angry, it's okay to act it out violently.

Studies that have been done on this subject show that there is a strong correlation between the two factors, but correlation does not necessarily mean causation. There are probably other underlying factors involved that could be adding to the effect. Not all children who watch violent cartoons (or play violent video games, etc.) display agressive behavior, but those children who have a higher level of agressive behavior probably watch violent cartoons, or play violent video games, etc. It's a really tough question to answer, and no definitive answers have been found yet.

I think with some children it can, but others it does'nt effect. If the kid is out of control for sure it will. Children copy what they see and hear, because they don't yet know that it their behaviour is unexceptable. Other kids can watch the same show and notshow an aggressive behaviour. My son has been watching violent cartoons since the age of one, it hs'nt effected him. He is one of the most gentle people I know. He is thoughtful, alwaus helping other. especioaly the gitls. The only time he shows any aggression is when he is on the field playing football or doing his martial arts. So my answer to that, only from my experience is no.

B.S. I grew up on Mighty Mouse, Tom & Jerry, Bugs and all the others.
I have been in 2 fights in my entire (somewhat lengthy) life am a trained Martial Artist and owned firearms ALL my adult life. I have yet to have a violent outburst.
Behavior is determined by the environment with parental values making the most impact.
There are upright, outstanding citizens coming out of America's most violent neighborhoods everyday.
Parents blaming others for the violence of their children is an all too common (and Liberal ) EXCUSE for poor and lazy parenting.

Yes!! Ask any caregiver of a group of kids, the correlation is as strong as the Super Bowl Sunday phenomenon, domestic violence is worse on this day than any other day of the year. The violence and aggressive actions incite the watcher to become "hyped up" and more likely to react the same way to the people around them. Not just for boys, girls too.

It depends on the surrounding environment at the moment. Watching violent movies as a child does affect your mind but as long as you let your child know that these are movies are just make-believe and that doing those things are punishable the child will learn to watch movies only to enjoy and not to learn from. More importantly, we have to look at ourselves as parents because the major influences are mommy and daddy. So it's not bad to let a child watch action movies as long as they know from the source that it's just a MOVIE and nothing more.

Yes. Children pick up on what they see, whether its a movie, the news, or even cartoons. Media today makes violence, drug use, and sex as being ok. Limit their time in front of the television and video games for that matter.
