i have had ringing in my ears for a bout 3-4months now and the ringing is backed y a constant clicking sound coming from my ear. when i originally noticed the ringing i went into the doctors the next morning and found out that i had a serious cold that left me full of mucus. i was told that the ringing would stop sfter a few days. but after a week it was still going on when going to the doctoer again i was told that i had a build up of mucus around the eardrum causing the ringing, and also the crackling was due to air going through it. i was advised to do some things but due to college i had little time to do them so the ringing is still continuing. also a few days befor the ringing i was at a party and inhaled some nitrous oxide from a balloon, it was my first time and i know now that it can cause a ringing in the ears after excessive use (which i certainly didnt do) its also on both sides and changes pitch from time to time and gets louder if i push on my head behind my ears

Try pinching your nose and blowing out through it. Do it slow (you could hurt yourself if you do it as hard as you can) and you should push the pressure 'out' of your head. Drinking fluids will have the same effect, when you swallow. do that as often as you think of it. this should help the "clicking" sound.

I have it too. I was diagnosed in 1979. I have as significant hearing loss to go along with the tinnitus. All being caused but noise exposure including jet engines, data processing equipment and firearms, It is always possible that it will clear but I suggest you get used to it. It can be a lifetime condition. And by the way, I have done some research and found that people with SEVERE cases have actually elected to be surgically rendered deaf. All that I have read indicates this doesn't work. Remember this if yours gets worse...

Tinnitus can go away or it can be permanent. You did not post what the doc advised you to do that you said you didn't do so that would be helpful in determining what might be going on. I would advise you to go back to a doctor and see what they say. If the tinnistus has been going on this long there is a chance it might be permanent but only a doc can make that kind of judgement after he checks your ears.

It is almost impossible to live with tinnitus but you don't have to. If you are hearing the noises, whether all the time or intermittently, you must seek treatment immediately. But sadly, conventional treatments only treat the symptoms of tinnitus and may provide temporary relief at best.
The only way you could ever get rid of your tinnitus for good is by following the holistic approach to healing. By using a multidimensional treatment for tinnitus, we are tackling all tinnitus causative factors and eliminating these triggering elements from the root. This is the only path for permanent freedom from tinnitus.

I had the same problem about 4 years ago. Just a constant ringing in your ears, its called tinitus, and there is no medication for it. I had to sleep with headphones on it got so bad and I had to eat ice while watching tv..(my ringing got worse when the tv was on for some reason)..i finally learned to ignore it....it will go away over time, you just have to distract yourself from it when it gets bad...good luck with it..I used to tell my mom it was going to drive me insane!

I've always wondered why people bother to go see medical professionals if they are not going to do as directed to achieve results. Your tinnitus is no doubt related to excess fluid build up in your middle ear, it is a common complaint. Suggest you do as your doctor recommended.

a friend had similar symptoms and went nuts trying to figure what was going on- from brain scans to ear infections anti-biotics. Eventually, they figured out that his tonsils needed to be removed and everything is ok again! Check your tonsils!
