did ppl expect him to make kobe the next jordan?jordan didnt win all the rings by himself, and neither did kobe, but you have to wonder, with what the lakers have to work with besides kobe, would phil be able to make the bulls the team they were if he only had jordan to work with?

The problem is not turning Kobe into the next Jordan, but turning the Lakers into the next Bulls of the 90s. When expectation are high, and you are getting paid $$$, people want result no matter who you have in your team. And people feel that Phil has enough talent to go all the way. The problem is also with people not realizing that the Western Conference is though again this year. You got the Lakers at the 6th spot if the season ended today and they would be the #1 seed if they were in the East. I also think people just want Phil to have Kobe play more in control and not be a one man show....he had the same issue with Jordan if anyone can recall. Besides, the Lakers almost knocking the Suns out last year and pretty much same crew back, brought a little bit of excitement back in LA.

hey I agree. The fact that this year, Phil has been able to handle the injuries he has, plus be able to work with such a your team, has finally proven how great of a couch he is. if they don't go far in the playoffs this year, WATCH OUT NEXT YEAR!!

This team needs to mature under the pressure of the playoffs. So far, They can play to the level of any top tier team, but don't have the maturity of "taking care of business" on weaker teams. This team just needs time to mature.

No, Phil is good at balancing big ego's. He knows one style of offense and though it's effective, one superstar cant run it by himself.
