I know that spot bleeding is normal for the first 3 months of being on birth control, but I was just wondering if I'm at the same level of protection against pregnancy, or am I at an increased risk?

Also, I've been taking the pills correctly; I've been taking them at the same time everyday and haven't missed a pill.

A little spotting and breakthrough bleeding is normal for most pills. During the first month of pills you are at an increased risk while your body adjusts to the pills. After that you should be fine, however no months is 100% effective, it may be an idea to invest in a secondary method of birth control if your family plan is a definite no at this point.

my sister was having this problem and we found out she just wasn't on the proper pill for her. you may not be getting enough hormones or maybe too much, but i would say it's time to get back to the doctor and try a different brand. i would not concider myself protected if i'm spot bleeding b/c somethings not quite right. use a condom, i've always used both methods and never had a pregnancy, good luck!

You are perfectly safe. - Well as safe as they say you are on the pill.

You do need to be careful whilst on the pill though. If you need to take antibiotics for any reason, the pill will stop working, and you will need to use another form of contaception for a month.

also should you get a sickness bug, the same thing happens - you are not covered by the pill, and will need to use something else.
