Cervix Position?

Question

Ok.. Im TTC... and I keep seeing things about checking your cervix position. My only problem is I can't seem to reach mine. Anyone else have this problem or know what I can do?

Try squatting down close to the floor when checking. It helps a lot.

Haha - maybe you are ovulating! I always know when I am ovulating because I can't reach my cervix. Do you have a thick, clear discharge?

When you are ovulating, you will have a lot of cervical mucus that looks and feels like egg whites, and your cervix will be very high and possibly difficult to reach. If you are sitting normally or squatting when you check and you can't reach it (and you have been able to reach it in the past), I would guess you might be ovulating. Right after your period, your cervix should be easily reached - you are not fertile during this time.

There is a lot of good info on the internet about this. Just type "cervical position" on Google and keep looking through what comes up until you find some info that makes sense to you.

Make sure your hands and clean and your nails are trimmed so you don't scratch yourself.

I find that the easiest way to reach is either:
- sitting on the toilet
or
- standing with one leg up on something (like putting your foot up on the edge of the tub)

When you are ovulating, your cervix is SHOW:

SOFT
Normally, your cervix feels kind of firm, sort of like the tip of your nose. When you are ovulating, it will feel softer, more like your cheek or your lips.

HIGH
This is obviously comparative. It will be higher up and harder to reach when you are ovulating than it is the rest of the month.

OPEN
Normally, your cervix is closed up. The os (opening to your womb) feels just like a little dimple in the middle. When you are ovulating, it will be open and feel like a little hole. You may be able to slightly insert your fingertip. If you purse your lips like you're going to kiss someone, that's kind of what it feels like.

WET
When you are ovulating, you'll have an increase in cervical mucous. The best kind if "egg white" cervical mucous. This is clear and stretchy, kind of like egg whites.
