There are quite a few apartments in the surrounding area that give Cast Member discounts, you just have to show a valid CM ID. A few of the places that I know of are the apartments directly behind Magic Kingdom cast parking lot, the three apartments along CR535 (Alexandria, Parc View, and another one; they are all directly right next to another), and if you want one a bit further Cagan Crossings right off US 27 (about a 15min drive from Animal Kingdom). There are more just look around in the surrounding area's of Disney.

And if you are in the college program, I would recommend the Chatham complex over Vista Way. Chatham has newer/nicer facilities than Vista and you'll get more sleep at night.
