Smiley, the KKK is an abomination and insult to our country, but because of the first amendment to the constitution, we can do nothing about it other than to counter it with our own good works. Racism still exists here...but my own experience is that racism or some kind of prejudice, exists everywhere. In this type of forum, where people are free to spew whatever they choose...you see more of it than out in the real world.

There are racists all over the world in every country. The KKK don't exist anymore. Thank God. I am an American and also live here in England and can see America objectively. The trouble with the USA is that it's citizens can only see the world from their point of view, and the only way to see the position otherwise is to live somewhere other that the US. My feelings toward my country have changed too and I can understand why.

Don't let a very few people tarnish your view of the whole group of people. The KKK was a stain in US history. It was a group back after slaves were freed that didn't want the black people being a part of regular American culture. It's more in the past, there is a few people now who say they are part of the Klan and support it's ideas. But they're are viewed as backwards racists here in the states. So they don't have any pull at all. Basically most Americans are good people, so don't even give the KKK any influence on your opinion.

I Think you have been Reading / Viewing the non stop Propaganda by the Enemies of America ---- Always Sneering and Blaming America for the many troubles inflicted on the free World by Evil Forces, when in fact the Terrorist Organizations are going at it 24/7 to upset the Balance in favour of the Crawling , Stinking , Evil forces which wish to Destroy Peace , Prosperity and Harmony It,s worth a Moments Reflection when considering just what would Happen without America , Great Britain and Like Minded , Freedom Loving Countries , who give so very much, in every way, to save the world from descending into Choas and Mass Destruction ?????

There are several reasons for your concern. First of all, there are many more people here in the US than in Britain, so of course there are more varied fanatical groups. Second, the media loves to blow some things out of proportion, the Klan isn't as prevalant as they would have you believe. I notice that you didn't ask about families that are hard working, raising their children to be responsible citizens, and not creating problems or hardships for others, that respect others no matter what their religion, color, or orientation. Those people are the prevelant ones, but they are not newsworthy. I would hope that you will make an effort to talk to some Americans, get to know them, and base your views on your personal experience, not the biased views of a reporter, who has to base the story on sensationalism in order to keep his/her job.

The KKK and Black Pathers are something of underground fraternities; or at least started out that way. Both have racist beliefs and by American law, can freely express that. In countries like England, I am betting whole heartedly that there are such fraternities, but do not openly and freely express that because of certain laws on organized groups.

America is a great place and everyone is allow to feel, believe and understand how they wish. It's not always desireable; but it is one of the pricipals that allow our country to flourish into realms of understanding. May I remind you that all countries have a certain amount, be it great or small, of racism.

I am pretty sure you know ignorant people right? The KKK is a group of ignorant people with a low I.Q. and a blurred understanding of what the bible says. They all get together to talk about how little they know. I think there is racism all over the world. It is not like you see the KKK on every street corner, I think people here in America ignor them and they just slowly go away.

I have to point this out before I bust a gut keeping it in. Go back and forth between Religion and Spirituality and Cultures and Government/Politics.

Those who may be embroiled in an "eye for eye" battle between Christians and Atheism, when placed in a forum where anyone disses our country (not necessarily our leaders, lol)...suddenly we are all one big brotherhood/sisterhood.

It says something really great about this country that I hope is not lost on anyone.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Even if your not in the KKK, people are still racist. But, what can you do? I thought when I got older people would have gotten out of there racist way, but no it doesn't look like that. I'm 28, but I don't seen the end of racism anywhere in sight. I'm sorry you see America in such a negative way. But, there are nice places to visit that are not so racist.
