i've just recently got em done and its the first time so how do i take care of em to make em last a while

I take it you mean acrylic nails. Well all you need to do is realize you are now attached at the hip to a salon. Every two weeks you will need to get the filled in. After you do this for about 4 months, it will get old and you'll end up soaking them off. Then your nails will be so brittle it will take you months to get your nails to where they were before you started the fiasco. All you truly needed to do was let them grow to the length you can before they chip or crack, and use a clear nail polish on them. Those were the good ol' days sweetie. You'll wish you had just stayed au naturale!

don't wash your hands with too hot water, or a bit hot and a bit cold, that will damage them, always make sure you put base cote before you put any nail color, don't hold heavy things or scratch anything hard with them,...
