Seems to be a lot of similarities in our country today with the communism scare of the 1950's. A lot of people seem to be fine in losing liberties as long as they are protected, just like during the McCarthy trials.

Communism couldn't survive, Reagan accelerated its demise. Does terrorism have the same fate as communism, with or without our assistance?

"Terrorism" will go on as long as we keep forcing our way of life down other nations throats. It doesn't help that we are attacking nations that did nothing to us. This only aligns more people against us and our efforts.

The difference here is basic. Communism was mainly a political drive to take over the free world - even though it still represents a mild threat to the US, it did not survive because the main country (Soviet Union) crumbled financially from within. Terrorism and its backers however have a base religious drive that keeps the movement alive. With as many peoples involved in it ,and, considering that we are the infidels, terrorism in some form is here to stay. It will be most difficult to stamp it out completely. No, I disagree, it just won't go away on its own - it may not go away with the US "attacking" it on every front.

No. Terrorism is totally different from Communism. Terrorism is a voluntary action that people take based upon a certain set of beliefs. Communism is a system of government that is often tyrannical in nature and a governmental system, though not at first, is eventually forced upon its victims.
Terrorism is carried out by people who view anyone not sharing their beliefs as the enemy. This is the mindset of Muslims, and it was the mindset of Timothy McVey who bombed the Federal Building in Oklahoma City.
Terrorism will not end on its own volition. The only way to stop terrorism is to stop the beliefs that spawn it. In order to change a person's beliefs, you must first change their heart.

if you know ur history ..."terrorism" has always been a tool of govts to scare their population into following them and suporting theyre exploits ... many times "terrorism" has been set up by a peoples own govt and blamed on some enemy either real or fabricated as an excuse for more power and control or to take over someone elses resources .. its not a new idea ... and as long as it works so well it will never go away ... as hitler said "how fortunate for leaders that men do not think" ...

terrorism is a war tactic, not a political party. it will never go away. we cant fight terrorism, it is folly. we do however, have a enemy. it is Islam, the real Islam as written by the murdering dog Muhammad. the man who AFTER winning a war (how many wars did Jesus even fight in?) he sliced the throats of 600 men and then sold their wives and children into slavery. Islam is a garbage religion. there are peace loving Muslims, but Islam is not a peaceful religion.

No, it will always linger, as it always has.
The key to keeping it small is American credibility abroad.
Right now, we have very little and terrorism has plenty of recruits as a result.

While Communism did not have a rational basis, it did have rational leaders. The same cannot be said for terrorists.
