Why is the world economic forum held in Davos?

I was there last year and found it extraordinarily difficult to get to from Austria. I was going to ski over to Klosters but the connecting lifts were shut due to high winds and bad weather.

Is there any snow there at the moment?

Switzerland is known as a banking capital. That, together with the fact that Davos is famous for skiing, probably explains why the conferences are held there. I was in Davos in August, and had one of the best lunches of my life. The Swiss are wonderful hosts.
