Well. It could be a number of things. First I would double check the power cable (and if your Power Supply has an On/Off switch I would make sure it is set to on). Next if your plugged into a surge protector, you might try plugging directly into an outlet to see if you surge protector died.
If none of this works, I would say you probably have a bad power supply. Good luck.

The PSU could have blown out. Power Supply Units need to be on UPS Uninterruptable Power Supplies, which block high voltages that occur on residential lines at the rate of over 17,000 spikes an hour, exceeding 10,000 volts!
But, is there a lamp plgged into the outlet! Does it work?
Then power is available at the wall outlet, so, the computer might be needing shop time. A PSU starts at $30 in most shops, and then about $40 for the 5 minutes of labor.
PSUs on the Internet start at $10, at http://pricewatch.com and I would get something around $19 to $40, but, make sure your system will take it. What kind of computer do you have? If it is an ATX form, then almost any PSU might work, though if you have more than two drives, I would get something over 500 watts!

Try unplugging the power from the back of the computer, wait 20 seconds, then plug it in and turn it on again.
Also, and I know this sounds silly, and do it carefully, if that doesn't work, slap the computer on it's right hand side. If this second option works, it is because the motherboard is touching the case, or one of the cards internally is not seated correctly, try pushing htem all in.
if it is the motherboard and it turns on, then you are probably ok just leaving it as it is as you won' thave to repeat the slap very often if at all.
Hope this helps.....

The others all talk crap. don't listen to them
I guess ur problem is like u swith on ur computer and the light indicating power input is on, but ur monitor is not getting any signal like the computer is not switched on, or ur computer simply wouldn't switch on. Don't panick. This kind of things happen a lot among computers especially those assembled ones (like DIYs). There is nothing serious actually, it's just ur CMOS (if u know what it means) that needs to be troubleshooted. Ur CMOS is some how spoiled so that u will have to repair it, by clearing CMOS. (u can check how to clear ur CMOS from ur computer manual or search the web... it's simple).
If it doesn't start after clearing CMOS, then the computer is physically defunct. Go repair shop ...
