started and marketing strategies. Im only 18, but I want to get my opinion out there. Do you think at my age I could afford to run a newspaper?? turn over a profit?

No, you can't afford this and you won't make a profit.

The printing costs for each issue would be huge. You can check this by telephoning a local printing company and asking for a bid. Tell them you are planning to put together a newspaper or newsletter, and tell them how many pages, how often it will come out, and the circulation. For most publications, advertising sales more than cover the printing costs, but as a new publication, your newspaper won't have any ads at first.

To get your opinion out there at a cost you can afford, start a blog or an e-mail newsletter. Write 1,000 words a day for it -- far less than you would need to do for a newspaper. You may be surprised how difficult it is to come up with that much material every day.

If you are serious about wanting to work on a newspaper, go to college and get a degree in journalism with emphasis on news/editorial. Then you can start working on a small paper and work your way up to larger publications.
