I think it depends on the company you work for. I think most companies train you the hands on basics, and then your on your own. I think the terminology in some cases, such as wording is totally mis-guiding, that they just throw you in and say okay do this and that, but don't explain what exactly this and that is.

In most cases NO!! there is either a lack of planning to train or the lack of effort. Some jobs I have had in the past had an actual training plan, but even thne it was seldom followed. Then you also have the situations where the person doing the training figures they aren't getting paid any extra, so why do it right. It is considered a hinderance, rather than a priviledge. Key points to training: show the job, assist the job, watch the job. If you do those three steps in training then you will have well trained people.

I've worked at wal-mart for 13 years,
I do not beleive that employees are gettign the correct training
.They "train" you on a computer which is like watching a video, and taking a test,
but they give them to you all at once, and no one is gonna remember it all.

Not at all I started a new job last week and I know more about the girl who was doing the trainning than what the job is about needless to say i quit. All she talked about was her I know her whole life story, I chose not to take the job because why set your self up for failure when on your own.

i'm a lifeguard, and i have to go through rigorous training to learn all of the "just in case" things... i feel that i am more than prepared for anything that can come up, whether someone can't swim, gets a bee sting, or starts having a stroke on the pool side.
