I haven't work in about 6mos. It is time for me to find work again. But not in my chosen field. I have to start out at the very bottom, like a teenager. I am really derpressed about this but I need to work. How do I get past feeling so horrible about it? I'm going to go to school, again, but I still have to work. I need advice or maybe a story on how you or someonelse got past it. I know I can't be the only one going through this.

It happens more often than you think. My man is in his 50s. He was a bricklayer and when he was in his 30s decided to go back to school to become an engineer and had to start at the bottom, it was hard, but once he finished school, his salary went up to WAY more than when he was laying bricks. Now, I am in my 30s and I am back in school finally to go into my chosen field and I will be starting at the bottom myself. Its scary, for sure, but there is NO SHAME in deciding to do what you love and that you are willing to work for it. You should actually be proud of yourself as there are millions working in jobs they hate because they have to. The thing that gets me through it is seeing my friends who all are working a "job" just to make ends meet. I will soon be doing something that I love and getting paid for it. Money isn't everything and eventually, because you are doing something that you want to do and have chosen to do, you will be less stressed, happier and probably eventually make more money. Anything worth having is worth working for and that's all you are doing.. it will all pay off in the end. My man is now very wealthy and loves his job. He is happier and more stable and much more fun to be around and the money came later, but it did come. Hang in there. You are on the right track. Good Luck.

The good thing about hitting the bottom is that there is no way but UP. It can be the best thing that ever happened to you if you learn from what happened. It also gives you the chance to change the direction that you were headed in. I have a friend who left her job as a college professor to work (entry level) for a florist, she is happier than she has ever been. Think about some long lost dream that you once had and go for it. Good Luck!!

A career change can be a very positive thing. I recently left my chosen profession because I just wasn't feeling it anymore. I too am starting from scratch in a field that I truly love. Actually, I started as a volunteer, no pay, and recently found a paying job (low pay) in the field. I'm well educated and was very successful in my first line of work, but ended up hating it. Now I'm at the very bottom rung in a field that pays a fraction of what I used to make, but I love it. And who knows...you could end up achieving a lot and being very successful in your new field.

My husband took a long period of time out of work for personal reasons, before he did he was a fully qualified mechanic, but when he went back he didn't want to go back into his previous profession.
it takes a lot of courage to start a new challenge, and to be honest my partner had a really hard time adjusting.
he re trained and is now working as a full time assistant manager at a security firm.
It can be hard but my advice would be to keep going, don't falter on what you want to achieve, and you can and will do it.
consider it a new lease on life, the perfect opportunity to meet new people and make new friends. i wish you the best of luck.

You haven't worked for over six months. You are going back to school. Lets one thing clear were you ever working, second going back to school? Now what does that mean. If I presume that you worked in a school and didn't attend to your job in the last six months, then in that case, you should be lucky if your school is letting you back. Wake up many people never get a second chance. It might be now or never.
