galen dane souders this name is unique to me because it has my mom and dad in it (my moms middle name is gaye and my dads middle name is dane) is it a nice name?

NO. Galen will be shorten to "Gay". Guaranteed the child will be prime target for teasing. Gavin or Gage are much better options (and even sound nicer). What about Dane Galen Sounders? I would use Dane as a 1st name over Galen by a landslide.
PS. Galen sounds like a similiar name, Gaylord. Did you ever see the movie, "Meet the Parents" or "Meet the Fockers"? Gaylord was a huge joke in the movie because everyone called him "Gay" and it's such an unfortunate name to be bestowed with. Galen is the same thing.

Galen is stupid - I have a cousin named Dane and he didnt get mocked too much so I guess thats OK.

You pick the name out for your son that you like. The only problem I see is that when he is younger kids will definitely be kids, and they might call him GAY-LEN or GAY because of his first name having the word "gay" in it!
It is nice that you admire your parents that much! Get your family's advice! Also look on the Internet to find other names that might be similar and have some of your family names in them. Try www.babycenter.com. This might be a start, and good luck!

It's a good name but how about about a different spelling. When I read it it makes me think of great dane.

I think it is fine. Don't let anyone tell you it isn't. I am due in 3 weeks and I have had nothing but trouble with picking a name for my little girl. My boyfriend's mother seems to think she can name her!! How crazy is that? As long as you and your partner agree with eachother that is all that matters. Good luck!!
