go to run on your start bar and type in Regedit.exe then on the bar at top go to edit then find and type in the name of program you want to delete if its some thing like an anti virus eg norton anti virus just put 'norton' then click find when one of the programs is highlited then press delete on your keyboard and then yes then press F3 on your keyboard and it will find another one you will have to keep going untill it cant find any more of the programs, then go to my computer click on HDD then program files then delete the main folder fo that program,
bingo it has gone but make sure you create a system restore point before you do all this as if you accidently delete a file which you shouldnt have then you may be in trouble.

Just use Ccleaner, use the Issues tool and it will remove icons after the program has been uninstalled along with a load of other rubbish. Then use the Cleaner.

If you are familiar with the registry (start > run > regedit), type the name of the icon, find and delete it accordingly.
