Moles! Infestation, How can I get rid of them?

Question

The moles have set up and extensive underground network in my neighborhhod. I used to keep them undercontrol with poison peanuts, and grub killer. But I've let them go wild a few year due to small children and not wanting to expose them to the chemicals.

Now they are massively out of control and pulling fill sand from under the garage. What in your experience is the best way to deal with them? Grub killer? What kind? What did best for you?

I think trapping would be useless since they are all over the neighborhood, and I dont want to trap everyones moles. Have also heard preadator littler is a good way.

I'm even considering tilling up the whole yard to destroy the massive tunnel system, or putting in a sprinkler system since the neighbors with sprinkler have much less of a problem (perhaps they dont like the moisture or the cavitation of the pipe?)

Going to war with them soon. Would love some good advice.

There is a biological control call talprid, if you can get it or legally use it in your location. Usually the moles are after something to eat. Most mole infestations I see are a result of a large grub population. If you can get rid of their restaurant, they will go elsewhere to dine.

Back when I was newly wed, we had the same problem but not as bad as you. I stupidly stuck the hose in one hole and turned on the water. I should also tell you that we lived at the top of the neighborhood. Days later (forgot the hose was on) as I soaked the entire neighborhood and my now ex-husband said was the largest water bill he had ever seen, this little bitty mole ran out of a hole and my neighbors dog grabbed it. I'm not so sure this is good advice but will work.

Be careful with answer #2 -- i work in a greenhouse and sell alot of product like this. I have never used any BUT customers have complain saying that they dont work. Just a heads up for ya good luck.

Pour gasoline in the holes and light it. You must be very careful and don't blow yourself up but it works. I tried all kind of chemicals and poisons with minimal success, then my grandfather told me to "burn" them out, and it worked great. If that does not work, watch Caddy Shack. You can get lots of creative ideas from Dan Ackroid.

I used something called moletox thinking they would eat it and die and I killed a bunch of squirrels in the neighborhood. This made my neighbors very nervous. So be careful with any type of chemicals.

Also agree with answer # 2 but try putting mothballs around too its suppose to help..
