What are the best Indian restaurants in the Detroit area (preferably west side, Orchard Lake and then West). Also, are there Indian buffets? I have never experienced Indian food except Samosas, and would like good suggestions on things to try. My friend and I are on mission this week to try it. Thanks!

I have been to Sitar India Restaurant and liked it. It is on Grand River in Farmington. Look up Indian restaurants on Citysearch. They should have a complete list.

Sorry, can't help you with the West side. I know there is an Indian restaurant at the corner of Maple and Livernois in Troy but its name escapes me(Last time I was there was in like 1998). Ot did appear to still be there when I drove by a few months ago. Last time I was there they did have a buffet. If you want to swing by, I can tell you it is on the northwest corner.

Prya, I'm sure I'm spelling it wrong, in Troy, on Maple and Livernois, is the best I've been to. However, I believe there are numerous Indian Restaurant's off of Middlebelt in your neck of the woods. But, Prya is definately worth the drive, order your meal "Tali" style, so you get all the fixin's.
And, yes, they do have a buffet, but only for lunch.

There this nice one on Woodward and Forest in Midtown. Not sure of the name however.

ruchi on northwest highway right before orchard lake used to be good, but i think they changed chefs. not so good now.
shalimar on orchard lake is ok.
