My favourite indian historical character is Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh.
Reason:When India was a colony of England, there were many leaders such as Gandhi,Nehru etc.But apart from that none of them had the plans for india after independence. It was BhagatSingh who was a visionary person. He wants a country of equality. So he supported socialism-a system where everyone will get according to his work. That's why he changed the name of Hindustan Republican Army to Hindustan Socialist Republican Army. The reality is this that the congressmen wanted to enjoy the
politics but it was Bhagat singh who thought about the nation.

Bhagat Singh
Bomb in the Assembly
Instead of finding the root cause for discontent of Indians, the British government took to more repressive measures. Under the Defense of India Act, it gave more power to the police to arrest persons to stop processions with suspicious movements and actions. The act brought in the council was defeated by one vote. Even then it was to be passed in the form of an ordinance in the "interest of the public." No doubt the British were keen to arrest all leaders who opposed its arbitrary actions, and Bhagat Singh who was in hiding all this while, volunteered to throw a bomb in the central assembly where the meeting to pass the ordinance was being held. It was a carefully laid out plot, not to cause death or injury but to draw the attention of the government, that the modes of its suppression could no more be tolerated. It was agreed that Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt would court arrest after throwing the bomb. It was a forgone conclusion in 1929 April 8th at Delhi Central Assembly. Singh and Dutt threw handouts, and bombed in the corridor not to cause injury and courted arrest after shouting slogans Inquilab Zindabad (Long Live, Revolution!) Meanwhile the killers of Sanders were identified by the treachery of Bhagat Singh's friends who became "Approvers." Bhagat Singh thought the court would be a proper venue to get publicity for the cause of freedom, and did not want to disown the crime. But he gave a fiery statement giving reasons for killing which was symbolic of freedom struggle. He wanted to be shot like a soldier, and not die at the gallows. But, his plea was rejected, and he was hanged on the 23rd of March 1931. He was 24. Bhagat Singh became a legendary hero for the masses. Innumerable songs were composed about him, and the youth throughout the country made him their ideal. He became a symbol of bravery and a goal to free India.

Gnosis is wrong as it was Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse who " taught Custer his lesson " as Geronimo was an Apache.
I'll vote for Tecumseh as he was earlier than many others who along with his brother The Prophet tried to stop the Europeans from gaining the North - West Territory

my favourite indian historical character is NETAJI SUBASH CHANDRA BOSE,in indian freedom struggle scenario he stands uniqe, with his visions and actions, his slogan to indians"give me blood ,i'll give you freedom",kindled the patriotic indian to organise into a small army called I.N.A(indian national army),he then organised this army in various parts of india and started his world trip,in that trip he met japanese rulers and singed an allience with them to attack biritish empire in india and removal of the same, also he went germany and made a pact with adoloph hitler,it is when ina and japan attacks biritish india, germany would supply weapons and other essentails to the ina, hwen world war -1 come biritian joined the war and also declared india (biritish) also joined war for fighting against biritians enemies, seeing oppurtunity netaji declared war on biritish india and actually captured some parts of india, which is now known as bhopal, there he hoisted the national flag of india, and declared its free from biritish rule, but the war suddenly took an unfortunate turn and biritish re caputred the places ina conquered, japan and germany were helpless at that time,so netaji escaped through burma, but after some time it is said he died in a plane crash, the matter is still being investigated, any its undoubtedbly we can that NETAJI WAS A GREAT HERO AND MAN WITH AMAZING COURAGE!,i would also like to point out the fact that,if netaji actually would defeated the biritish and conquered india, then what would be the results, may indian indepdence can be celebrated on i think some where 1919,and its out come will be astonishing.
