My fiance and I both really liked the first ped. we met with...she was sooooo nice, paitient, and just had a baby this past year herself which i thought would be very helpful. ALso I really liked the office...everyone was super nice, but again this was the ifrst and only one we met with! I had another appt to meet with another one and was thinking about canceling but should i go anyways just to see or should i just stick with my first instinct? I am 34 weeks so i need to send my paperwork in! Thanks.

You got lucky! I went through five pediatricians before I like mine. I absolutely love her now! Just consider yourself lucky. I don't think it is necessary to make another appointment with another doctor. You liked her, right? The staff was attentive and courteous? That's pretty much all you can ask for! I'm very glad you found a nice pediatrician.

I would tell you to get a second opinion if (when you have your child) she diagnosed your child with something, or she prescribed a certain medication that you didn't feel comfortable with, but you like her and that's all you can ask for right now. Sounds to me like you found your child's doctor! Congratulations!....

Meet with the second one. It will only take an hour and will eliminate the forever "I should have..." feeling. Eventually your baby will be sick and you'll want the confidence of not worrying that you didn't select the best.

By the way, the fact she just had a baby could be a slight problem. What if her baby is sick and she's not in the office the day that you need a pediatrician for a sick child? What's the backup situation?

my wife and Ihad a baby 3 months ago and we actually changed pedi. before he was even born. We found out through the grapevine that he was going to retire at 45 years old (which was just a 1 year from now). He didn't let us know that in advance, which kind of upset us. Best advice I can give is to talk to at least 2 and ask every question you can - also ask friends and family - they can give you insight like nobody else. Good luck and GOD Bless!!!!

Its a good idea to see more than one, especially since you already have the appointment. You may end up hating the next guy, but at least you will have given it the chance. I hear so many parents moan and complain about a pediatrician that they "simply adored" months earlier. Keep in mind that when going in to a consultation, She is in essence competing for your patronage-- she wants you to be her 'customer.' so of course she is going to put on a smile, sweet words, and try to find a connection with you. That's not to say that she's not genuine, but it is always a possibilty.

If it is going to curb your curiosity then there is no harm in attending your additional appointment.

It may satisfy you and your fiance that your initial choice was the right one, (sounds good so far).

Hope you get your paperwork in soon and that you enjoy your pediatrician.

Go with your gut on a Dr. Especially since you are 34 weeks.

Follow your gut unless you have nothing better to do than meet with the other one. I know that when we set our mind on someone that no one else compares.

Good luck
