No that takes away choice which i believe is a part of British democracy. The State Socialists would love to because there like all children to be indoctrinated in State Comprehensives. Saying that many of this Labour Government are hypocrites it seems when it comes to education. Faith Schools have a good track record when it comes to standards of education and also discipline and morals. We shouldn't be abolishing schools we should restore Grammar schools and reverse the damage these class obsessed Neo Marxists have done in this country.

To be honest, I went to a Catholic school and I turned out OK
**Eye twitches uncontrollably**

Seriously though, apart from the fact that I had to go to religious assembly occasionally, and GCSE R.E was a core subject (no choice in the matter. You had to do it!), it was the same as any other school. There were kids from all religions there, including Christians, Sikh's Muslims etc...

I'm not bothered either way. I'm Athiest (I actually became athiest partly because I was fed up with religion in general from being in a religious school. It backfired on 'em! I didn't choose that religion, it was forced upon me!), but I'm in HM Forces, which follows the C of E religion in church parades etc.
Religion shouldn't be as important a thing as it is. It's much less important than it was 50 years ago and I hope it diminishes further. Boundaries will crumble then.

Let the religions keep their schools, as long as they show a respect for other faiths and ethnic groups, then it's fine by me.

In the UK Catholic schools aren't run by the state, they are run and supported by the church,so how could you abolish them?

Lots of people try to get their children in catholic schools,by getting them christened a catholic because the education is far superior to a state run school.

You can check this out on the net if you dont believe me,its also been a subject of many television programmes

State run faith schools are a big mistake, all this does is create divisions between different cultures, if the parents wish to send their children to private faith schools I have no problem, but state ones should be closed.

NO, thats insane.Government in the rearing of our children has already to much and now to tell us we WILL send our children to their educational institutes for 'no' confussion for the way they are to think. The way public schools hold smart children back from learnig is a disgrace enough. I love the way you used the word "abolish", that's the way hitler put it.

The only faith schools that should exist are the ones that this country was founded on - Christianity.

Good point! I have said in the US that I am even for removing GOD from every portion of American culture. As a conservative this seems in opposition to core beliefs of conservatism. Someday perhaps when the population is majority Islamic I am afraid congress will vote "in God we Trust" would then have to be "In Allah we Trust". Making these schools tax exempt was great when all they taught was about heaven and hell, but now that they are nests for vipers and villians I say get rid of them they have no place in modern countries.

No, but we should abolish public schools that are pretty much run by the political organization known as the NEA.
