I can't speak personally, since this isn't my profession of choice, but I have been seeing the same GYN for 10 years and I can tell you what she told me when I asked her the same question. She said that her mother had died from cervical cancer, she had many reproductive problems as a young adult, and her daughter suffered from endometriosis. She said that she how hard reproductive disorders can be on a woman and her family, and she wanted to make a difference for others.

maybe got an opening
or a scholarship.
lots of people who want to help women
and love the idea of delivering babies
want to do it.
also you kind of take what specialties and slots
you can get even if you didn't start out with that goal.
