I just met someone the other day named Cassandra and I was trying to decide if I liked the name. I have to definitively say NO, I don't like it. It has a pretty sound at first, until you really think about it. The "sandra" part is very dated and 70's. I also really don't like the inevitable nickname of Cassie, or worse Sandy, (it sounds kindof trailer park). Clarissa, Calista, Karissa, I think all sound much more lively and pretty-sounding.

I love it! We had a boy, but Cassandra was the girls name we picked. I was planning on calling her Cassie. If the next one if a girl, I will carry the name over.

Are you happy that your child will never be Cassandra? She will be Cass or Cassie - but never Cassandra. And when she's older, she'll tell her friends that she hates the name Cassandra.
You and I like it, but will a 10 year old girl?

It makes me think of Tia Carerre's character in Wayne's World (" Let me stand next to your fiiiiire!"):P. Anyway, It's a pretty name and can by shortened as "Cassie" or "Sandy".
Suggestion- Cassandra Marie
