In the latest polls, not only do a majority of Americans disapprove of Bush, they STRONGLY disapprove of him. He has the worst approval ratings since Nixon during Watergate. It's sad, really.

Since all polls show that Congress is rated even lower than Bush, I would think that shows all politicians are unpopular. So, MOST people are more unhappy with the performance of Congress than the president.

Yes they are but for different reasons.

The low opinion polls for Bush are the result of him being a republican, so automaticly liberals hate him just for that alone. That is 45% right there. Then the rest of it is from republicans who are made about him dragging his feet on immigration, over-funding a pork laden bill after a pork laden bill, and for otherwise not being a conservative republican. He failed to listen to Lincoln and thought he vould please all the people all of the time.

His biggest problem comes from walking away from his base. If he returned, his numbers would be at about 45-55% approval.

However, you must remember Truman. Truman had lower polls than Bush, started and fought an unpopular war, and had "civil liberty" issues as well, yet history considers him one of the most important Presidents to define the modern era of the President. Yet if you had talked to people in his time, they said "worst president ever" "impeach Truman" "idoit who cannot speak an intelligent phrase" and other such things. It is amazin how history repeats itself. People even criticized Truman for being soft on illegal immigration.

I am a converted democrat,I voted for President Bush, but he along with many other republicans have disappointed the conservatives with the liberal spending and the border issue.I am still happy that he was in office when we got attacked..,I still cant picture Al Gore taking care of terrorists when he has fantasies of global warming on his mind.

Yes, unfortunately i think most people are unhappy with Bush. But, given the terrible things that have befallen this country during his presidency, i do think he is doing the best that he can. i am only so very thankful that i am not in his position right now. i do support him, though. i may not always agree with him, but i do not have all the information that he does.

I think most people do not understand how government works. They don't seem to know how the laws work and really do not seem intent on learning either. Next, The President is not an American Idol contestant and so what "approval rating" means I haven't a clue. Are we planning on not giving him a 3% raise? Will he get 3 days off because the Liberal media is not pleased? It is nice that people are becoming interested in their world but they need some basic classes on government first.

Opion polls? Never in my many years has anyone asked my opinion or of anyone I have ever known. Look at the opinion polls on CNN.com. They always are far left. They predicted Kerry a big winner.
