I have Indian star tortoise. It's approximate size is as follows :
Lower side (lower plastron) :-
Length (from mouth to tail) : 4.5 inches
Width (from left to right approximately from center) : 3.2 Inches
Now how can I imagine its age?

The numbers we use to measure a turtle or tortoise are:

Straight-line Carapace Length (SCL)- front edge of the shell (behind the animal's head) to the back end of the shell, over the tail.

Weight.

The other numbers are not tracked widely.

The only reliable way to know the age of a turtle or tortoise is to see it be born. However, we can make a guess based on the animal's size. In this case, the adult animal is about 10" long SCL. Yours sounds about 3.5-4" long, so a good guess would be about a year to 18 months old.

Indian,Sri Lankan, and Burmese Star tortoise are very poor swimmers at best,they should have a water dish that is chin deep and have an easy way of exiting the water....They are great tortoises, just not very water "talerant"as other tortoise,like RedFoots,Yellow Foots,Mt. tortoises exc......

Count the growth rings around the scutes.This is useful in small tortoises.But several growth rings may appear in a single season.
