I'm about to. I live in Santa Cruz County, California, one of the most expensive places in the US. Since I retired with a very, very small IRA, I cannot afford to live here. In a couple of weeks I'm moving to St. Louis, Missouri. I chose that mostly because my friends there would not permit me to chose anywhere else. They assure me the cost of living is way cheaper, that I will love the city, and that they will love having me there. Good enough for me.
As to what I wish I had known before I made the commitment to move, that would be a licensed driver who can drive the truck with all my stuff. I put a question up on Answers about how to hire such a person, and the only answer I got was that I'd have to pay a lot of money. Real helpful for the two points, eh?
