The dress is knee length, strapless, pink and gold jaquered with a pink ribbon at the waist (very 30's style). I have pink and gold metallic shoes that go with, the black tie event is on Wednesday and just found out today that I need to attend - so I'm trying to pull something from my closet, I just didn't know if it's proper to wear strapless dresses in the winter or not. Thanks!!

I think it sounds very pretty. Wear a long coat w/ it to keep you warm until your inside. The weather won't matter once the party is in full swing. Enjoy, you're going to look great!

I live in michigan too and it will work if you have a long leather jacket or fur you can wear until you get inside so you can look sexy on the outside and when you take off the jacket as well. But no open toe shoes thats just to much.

I'd advise against it...you need to dress somewhat appropriately for the weather (and living in Michigan myself I am well aware that winter has finally arrived this week and I am NOT happy about it). You have until Wednesday...plenty of time to find something and with summer stuff rolling in, you're likely to find plenty of more appropriate dresses on clearance.

It sounds like a promenade dress no longer a black tie affair dress. frequently black tie elective is a ideal wedding ceremony and traditionally women individuals ought to be in long dresses. this is a lot greater of a promenade dress and that i don't experience that's suitable, extraordinarily in case you would be in photos. i might ask the bride. For me, i might tell my attendants no to this dress and my affair isn't black tie, yet i does no longer enable them to positioned on that in need of a dress. additionally, while you're over 19...this dress does no longer be age suitable the two.

If its a dressy event then what you describe is ideal, would have been called a cocktail dress. If you're worried about being cold, a wrap, shrug or pashmina will do the trick. You'll be inside, with heating on most of the time anyway.

Well I think for the winter you should get some sort of black sweater or shawl to cover your arms...it is in the 20's in your area, this is most likely a night party so the temps will be lower.

If only you could get a short (bolero) jacket to go with it, you'd be KICKIN'. Wear your hair up, if you can. (brr, what we do for fashion, eh?)
Have a blast (blast of cold air, get it)! No, really, have a terrific time.
